Dr. Katie Kinsel
Born and raised in Lexington, I graduated from Tates Creek High School and then from Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN with a degree in Biology. From a young age, I had always considered medicine as a career choice – I simply couldn’t see myself doing anything else. I returned to Lexington to attend medical school at the University of Kentucky, graduating in 2015. While a medical student, I knew internal medicine was the right fit due to its broad reach, depth of knowledge and the ability it would afford me to “do a little of everything”. I continued my training in medicine at the University of Kentucky for residency. As a resident physician, it became very clear to me that I was meant to do primary care. I love the patient-physician relationship and the ability to follow patients through time. I enjoy knowing the outcome and following their problem to completion. I especially love solving the tough case. Since graduating in 2018, I had been in an outpatient primary care practice in Winchester, KY.
I currently live in Paris, KY with my husband, Ryan, and my two young sons, Thomas and Henry, dog Ranger and cat Millie. In my spare time, I enjoy needlepointing, baking and reading. I enjoy traveling and look forward to doing more in the future.
I am excited to have joined a practice which allows me to provide evidence based primary care with even more flexibility to deepen relationships with my patients and provide the absolute best care possible.
Davis (Federspiel) Meyer, Director of Patient Experience
I love Kentucky, and I’m incredibly proud to call it my home. I was born and raised in Lexington. I ventured out to DePauw University, Indiana, where I earned a bachelor’s in communications. I also played 4 years of collegiate soccer, receiving All-America honors. After graduating, I spent time in Chicago enjoying the fast-paced city life. I realized Lexington was going to be my forever home as it got harder and harder to drive back to Chicago. I’m thankful for my Chicago days, and I’m glad to be back home.
I love meeting new people and creating meaningful relationships. I am so glad to be a part of Drs. Brown as their Director of Patient Experience. My passion is helping other people. My favorite part of the job is getting to know the members of Downtown Drs. Brown and exploring ways to promote healthy living outside the exam rooms.
I enjoy spending time with my family — my husband, three children, and our dog. I enjoy running, traveling, volunteering, and cheering on the Cats. I can’t wait to see you at Downtown Drs. Brown!
Anne (Strode) Christian, Nurse
I was born and raised in Lexington with deep family roots, so I did not think twice about where I would go to college. I graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2006 with my Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and immediately started working at UK Hospital. I spent eight plus years working in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) taking care of some of Kentucky’s smallest (and mightiest) patients. It was a challenging, yet extremely rewarding, area of nursing. My time spent there was invaluable to my nursing experience and has left me with a profound gratitude for modern medicine.
In 2015, I left the PICU and changed pace completely to stay home with my daughter. I was fortunate to be able to spend three years at home with her, and to also welcome another daughter. I am glad to be back to nursing and glad to be at Downtown Drs. Brown where I have the opportunity to focus on health maintenance, in addition to acute issues.
Outside of work, my passion is my family, consisting of my husband and two daughters. We love to travel. Some of our favorite trips are to Florida where my husband enjoys scuba diving and spear fishing while our girls and I enjoy boating or playing on the beach. We also love skiing and try to make an annual trip to Utah. When we are not traveling we love low-key weekends spent with family and friends.
I look forward to creating lasting relationships with the patients at Downtown Drs. Brown, and helping each of you pursue a healthy lifestyle.
Lana Agayev, CMA
I was born in Western Russia, in a small city on the banks of Volga River. I consider myself very fortunate that Lexington has become my new home. My husband and I have two wonderful children. With breathtaking scenery and the kindest, most welcoming community I could not wish for a better place to call home and raise a family.
After obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Philology, I decided to switch fields. I acquired an Associates Degree of Medical Office Administrative Assistant and became a Board Certified Medical Assistant in 2014. I started working as a Medical Assistant at Internal Medical Associates that same year. During the years working as a MA at Internal Medicine Associates, I had the opportunity to meet some most wonderful people – patients, doctors, nurses. Drs. Ryan and Cady Brown are two of the great doctors I had the pleasure of meeting. Their knowledge, work ethic, and very unique warm approach to patient care stood out right away.
After a brief leave from work when my second child was born in 2018, I was given the chance to work with Drs. Brown again by joining their outstanding team at their new practice. I love that at Downtown Drs. Brown, we are given the opportunity to spend time and care for each individual person as part of a family. We provide them with personalized care and invest in their long term success as we all work to improve their health. At the risk of sounding cliché I will say I do agree, if you love what you do, you won’t work a day in your life. I enjoy every little bit of my job.
Janie Reynolds, Nurse
I was born and lived the early years of my childhood in Lexington, but have spent the majority of my life in Jessamine County. I graduated from West Jessamine High School, and knew the University of Kentucky is where I wanted to attend college. I graduated with my Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from UK in 2007.
After graduation I began my nursing career at St. Joseph East Hospital in the newborn nursery, where I have spent the last 15 years. I’ve loved being a part of people’s most precious moments in life, welcoming their new additions while helping and educating them in the care of their newborns.
Aside from work, my time is spent with my family, which consists of my husband, our two children, 2 cats, and a dog. Our kids’ activities keep us pretty busy. Most weekends are spent on the sidelines of a soccer field or basketball court. I’ve also newly become a Girl Scout Troop leader for my daughter’s troop. I love making memories with them. I enjoy traveling every chance I get, hiking with my family, and eating good food.
I am thrilled to join Downtown Drs Brown and to get to know each of you. My favorite part of nursing is caring for people, and I feel that the environment at Downtown Drs Brown promotes just that. I look forward to getting to spend more time with patients and investing in their care.
